Numerology - I

Numerology - I ------------------- Just want to start with Numerology basics, so that it helps others and helps me refresh my knowledge. So here we go.

  1. Basic Concept:
    • The basic concepts are derived from Vedic Astrology, which is the basis of all Indian astrology system. They are as follows:
    • There are 9 cosmic bodies or ‘graha’ in the solar system which affect all life forms on planet earth. These are:
      • Sun (Surya / Bhanu / Ravi)
      • Moon (Chandra / Shashi / Som)
      • Mars (Mangal / Kuja)
      • Mercury (Budh)
      • Jupiter (Guru or Brihaspati)
      • Venus (Shukra or Shukracharya)
      • Saturn (Shani or Shanidev)
      • North Node or Rahu
      • South Node or Ketu
    • These planets represent a number between 1 & 9, and this representation depends on their personality traits and virtues.

  2. Planets and their numbers:
    • The numbers of these planets are:
      • 1 = Sun
      • 2 = Moon
      • 3 = Jupiter
      • 4 = Rahu (North node)
      • 5 = Mercury
      • 6 = Venus
      • 7 = Ketu (South Node)
      • 8 = Saturn
      • 9 = Mars
    • There is a lot of discussion and questions as to why the numbers are allocated in such a way, but we will try and discuss that in later sections.
    • Based on these numbers, numerologists try to derive an individual’s personality, strengths, weaknesses, and other aspects of his/her life.

  3. Assignment of numbers with characters:
    • These above said numbers are then assigned to the modern day alphabet, in the ascending order.
    • So, A/a equals 1, B/b equals 2, C/c equals 3 and so on.
    • Once a letter gets 9, the next letter starts with 1, since there is no zero or 10.
    • So, applying this concept to the alphabet, this is what we get:
      • A, J, S = 1
      • B, K,T = 2
      • C, L,U = 3
      • D, M,V = 4
      • E, N,W = 5
      • F, O,X = 6
      • G, P,Y = 7
      • H, Q,Z = 8
      • I, R = 9

  4. Application:
    • This is the most important concept – to apply the numbers to analyze.
    • To do this, we need 3 parts of an individual’s personal information –
      • Complete Birth date with day, month and year
      • All names used by that individual for personal and professional purposes including pet names, business names, social or friend circle aliases, etc.
      • How does he/she introduce themselves to a complete stranger, be it a business or personal meeting, party or social gathering, or any other event?
    • This data is then computed by applying numbers as explained below, and then we arrive at a combination of different numbers.

Enough for part I - More of it later….
